<span style="font-family: Arial"><h2 style="text-align: center">Accountant I - Finance - Gies College of Business</h2><h3 style="text-align: center"></h3></span><span style="font-family: Arial">The Department of Finance at the University of Illinois’Gies College of Business seeks an Account I to join the staff. The Accountant I position assists in themanagement of financial operations in the Department of Finance. <br><h4>Job Summary</h4>The Accountant I position will manage the departmental accounts, providing reconciliation, reporting, department purchases, and deposit processing.<h4>Duties & Responsibilities</h4><ul><li>Collaborate with the Assistant Director to advise on management of accounts, account usage, and provide<br>various financial reports to faculty. Perform monthly reconciliation of accounts.</li><li>Track commitments for the department noting how that will affect availability of funding when advising<br>faculty, and process JVs as needed.</li><li>Collaborate with faculty, Center Directors, and administration to review financial statements, clear<br>deficits, provide financial forecasts and reports, and inform decisions of the department.</li><li>Prepare and process various University business documents, including payments to vendors and<br>reimbursements of allowable expenditures incurred by faculty, staff and students in the Department and by<br>non-visitors to the Department.</li><li>Act as a liaison with University administrative offices such as the Office of Business and Financial Services,<br>University of Illinois Foundation, and University Accounting & Financial Reporting.</li><li>Recommend and implement new procedures to optimize efficiency of departmental financial processes.</li><li>Assist in managing endowment and current use gift funds budgets and expenses, including scholarship,<br>fellowship, and professorship funds.</li><li>Coordinate department labor distribution processing for accuracy and allowability.</li><li>Manage and process transactions in various accounting systems to charge out self-supporting department<br>activities, correct erroneous transactions, clear deficits, and maintain accurate, timely financial records.</li><li>Serve as backup for department purchases utilizing various mechanisms (Banner, iBuy, P/T card)</li><li>Create and maintain spreadsheets of financial information for department to track expenditures. Track and<br>report discretionary spending by faculty. <br>Assist with biennial inventory process.</li><li>Serve as Department’s Cash Manager, depositing checks and cash annually. Includes documenting and<br>processing deposits and gifts to the department. <br>Manage document retention and record keeping for all departmental funds according to OBFS requirements<br>and RIMS retention schedule. <br>Respond to requests for audit information and documentation. Work experience and/or training in Accounting or a closely related field<br><span style="white-space: pre"> </span>B. College course work and/or training in Accounting or a closely related field (including 12 semester hours in accounting)<br><span style="white-space: pre"> </span>30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)<br><span style="white-space: pre"> </span>Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)<br><span style="white-space: pre"> </span>90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)<br><span style="white-space: pre"> </span>Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)</p><h4> Preferred Qualifications</h4><p>Experience with Web Intelligence reporting, My-UI-Financials, and RIMS retention schedules.</p><h4>Appointment Information</h4><p>This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 0010 - Accountant I position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salaryis competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while alsoconsidering internal equity.
