<span style="font-family: Arial"></span><p style="margin-bottom: 0"><b><span style="font-family: Arial">UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS URBANA-CHAMPAIGN</span></b></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0"><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>School of Information Sciences</b></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0"><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>Specialized Faculty (Open Rank, Non-Tenure Track) in Information Sciences </b></span></p><p style="margin-bottom: 0"><span style="font-family: Arial"><b> </b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">The School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks to hire outstanding specialized faculty members to join our dynamic and collegial School of Information Sciences (iSchool). We invite applications for two 100% full-time non-tenure track, open rank, specialized faculty positions with the iSchool. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">The iSchool welcomes scholars with experience in policy and governance, dynamics and complexity in social sciences, computational modeling in social sciences and humanities, organizational behavior, or librarianship. Candidates with backgrounds in cognitive science, business, library and information science, sociology, anthropology, history, political science, and psychology are especially encouraged to apply. We seek applicants who will thrive in an interdisciplinary academic unit at one of the nation’s premier land-grant research universities. Our faculty members are highly interdisciplinary, with backgrounds in information science, philosophy, history, psychology, political science, cognitive science, engineering, computer science, library science, literature, medieval studies, and sociology. The iSchool has four active research centers and an ever-growing number of labs in which faculty and students work together on their cutting-edge research projects: <a href="https://ischool.illinois.edu/research">https://ischool.illinois.edu/research</a>. <span> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">The iSchool at Illinois is home to the top-ranked professional master’s program in library and information science, which offers an award-winning online enrollment option, as well as joint degrees with History, Law, African Studies, and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. We also offer professional master’s programs in information management and bioinformatics, a certificate of advanced study, a licensure program in school librarianship, as well as an exciting STEM-designated undergraduate degree that reimagines a liberal arts education for a global information society. The iSchool’s doctoral program, established in 1948, is the oldest of its kind. More information can be found at: <a href="http://ischool.illinois.edu/">http://ischool.illinois.edu/</a>. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>SPECIFIC DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>Teaching Professors</b> deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience, publish on topics related to information research and scholarship, and engage in related pedagogical activities to make both an instructional impact and a curricular impact within and beyond the department. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field by the time of appointment.<span> </span>Preferred qualifications include a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>Lecturers </b>deliver an effective and engaging classroom experience and support the department through service responsibilities. Candidates must have at least a master’s degree or equivalent degree and some professional experience. Preferred qualifications include and a minimum of one year teaching experience equivalent to 2-3 courses.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">Teaching loads are dependent on job title. The Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor course load is 4 courses per year. The Lecturer and Senior Lecturer course load is 6 courses per year.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial"><b>SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION</b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">This 100%-time academic specialized faculty position appointed on a 9-month service basis. The expected start date is August 16, 2026. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial">The budgeted salary range for these positions is $80,000-$90,000 at the Lecturer level, $90,000 - $100,000 at the Senior Lecturer level, $100,000-$105,000 at the Teaching Assistant Professor level, $105,000-$110,000 at the Associate Teaching Professor level, $110,000-$115,000 at the Teaching Professor level.
