Clinical Nurse II - GI Endoscopy
Job Requirements
The Philip A. Zaffere Digestive Disease and Multidisciplinary Procedure Center at St. Joseph Medical Center is a fast-paced procedural unit serving a diverse patient population undergoing gastroenterology, pulmonary, cardiac, and psychiatric procedures. Nurses rotate through prep, PACU, circulating, and GI tech roles and are trained in endoscope reprocessing. The unit operates Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM6:00 PM, with on-call coverage required during nights, weekends, and holidays. All staff participate in the call rotation following orientation. Strong candidates demonstrate exceptional time management, patient safety awareness, clinical assessment skills, and procedural competency. The DDC adheres to the standards of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), and all nurses are encouraged to pursue active membership and specialty certification in gastroenterology (CGRN).

- Serves as a clinical resource for others.
- Applies and integrates evidence into practice
- Functions effectively in roles specific to unit, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care; independently advocating for patient/family needs
- Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely effective, efficient, equitable, patient centered care.
Qualifications
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
- More than 12 months nursing experience. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP)
Work Experience
- Associate degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- CGRN certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in a surgical or procedural setting, ICU, or Emergency Room preferred
- Current RN licensure, State of Maryland
- BLS and ACLS required
- Must be able to respond to on-call cases within 1 hour
